Mikey’s Mission Raises More than $4K for JDRF

Matt White organizes fundraiser for this brother and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Just after last weekend’s held at Shoreline Crossfit, we posted the unofficial total funds raised as $3,500. Well Branford High School Senior Matt White is proud to announce that the official total is even more.

Participants and donors were able to raise $4,358 last Saturday for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation through the CrossFit challenge.

The fundraiser came about as Matt’s Senior Capstone Project and as a way to support his younger brother, Mikey White, who has been battling Type 1 JD since age 4.

Mikey who is now sixth-grader at was also the catalyst for a JDRF fundraiser for his team, 6-3, more than $550 last Friday.

Fundraising aside, one of the best pieces of news from the event was the victory of the White brothers took home a CrossFit prize in the Men’s Novice Division.
