More Good News For Hope

Hope continues to recover from an extreme animal cruelty case. Read her story here.

(Editor's Note: For those of you who haven't been following the story of Hope, you've missed a lot. About 10 days ago someone driving by saw a dog struggling to walk in Branford. She took the dog to the Dan Csogrove Animal Shelter and staff called it one of the worst cases of animal cruelty they had ever seen.
Staff said the dog was starved and was a day or two away from death. Over the past 10 days, shelter staff have cared for the dog around the clock and named it Hope. Over the past week, Hope has begun to make some progress in her recovery and the news continues to get better.)

Happy St. Patty's Day! Here is todays Hope update!

Hope had another good day today! Alot of tail wagging and snuggling. Her personality is definitely coming back! She is still eating small amounts throughout the day and that will continue for quite a while. But she has been a great eater right from the start, so that makes us really happy.

She still has some diarrhea but we are hopeful as she gains strength and her body heals that everything will begin to function normally again. We will be doing bloodwork next week to see if her levels are stabilizing yet.
People have been asking us three questions alot so we want to be sure to keep you up to date - The first is how much weight has she gained and the answer is about 9 pounds.

The second question is when will Hope be available for adoption? At this point we are still focusing on Hope's recovery. Anybody who is interested can fill out an application at branfordanimalshelter.org and they can fax it to us at 203-315-3851.

The third question is when can we meet Hope? Once Hope is not considered critical any longer than we will post something about setting up a meet and greet. But at this point we are just focused on her recovery. But we will certainly keep everyone up to date.

All of us at the Animal Shelter (and Hope too) hope you all have a safe and happy St. Patty's Day!

We will be posting again on Monday (unless anything pertinent comes up over the weekend).
