Navigators Stamford KIC IT Races Announce for July 15 & 16!

The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Races is happy to announce the 10th annual event on July 15 & 16 at Cummings Beach.

Cos Cob, CT: The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Races is happy to announce the 10th annual event on July 15 & 16 at Cummings Beach. The event features a Kids Triathlon on Saturday, July 15 and an Olympic Triathlon, Sprint Triathlon and 5K on Sunday, July 16. With a new race director, John Bysiewicz of JB Sports, the event is making exciting changes including new bike and run courses showcasing Downtown Stamford, Shippan Point and the Westover neighborhood. JB Sports annually coordinates 25 running events with nearly 40,000 participants. The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Races raise awareness and funds for Kids in Crisis, an emergency shelter for infants, children and teens and 24-hour crisis counseling resource for children and families. Registration for the event opens Wednesday, March 1 at www.kicittriathlon.com.

The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Olympic Triathlon boasts a .9 mile swim in Long Island Sound, a 24.8 mile bike and a fast 6.2 mile run. The event changed the bike course to a 2-loop route through Downtown Stamford and a scenic 10K run in Shippan Point. The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Sprint Triathlon begins 18 minutes after the Olympic Triathlon. Both beginners and experienced triathletes alike compete in the 0.5 mile swim, 13.9 mile bike and 5K run. Both Olympic and Sprint Triathlons invite individuals and relay teams.

The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Kids Triathlon provides the opportunity for young triathletes to test the waters! The event offers three heats for children ages 6-7, 8-10 and 11-13. The Kids Triathlon is an enjoyable athletic event that promotes a healthy lifestyle, provides a chance to meet new friends and builds self-confidence. Every child receives a finisher medal and prizes are awarded to top age group winners. Family-friendly activities, food and live music are provided after the event.

A 5K foot race open to runners and walkers and starts after the triathlons are finished. The scenic 5K course runs from Cummings Beach into Shippan Point and back. Held on the same day as the Navigators Stamford KIC IT Triathlon, the run course promises to provide runners with lots of support! The 5K follows the Sprint Triathlon run course as a standalone road race starting at 10:00AM. Both days host exciting post-race beach parties! This do-not-miss event offers fun for the whole family including kids’ activities, live music, food, refreshments and more.

Kids in Crisis (www.kidsincrisis.org) is Connecticut’s only free, round-the-clock agency providing emergency shelter, crisis counseling and community educational programs for children of all ages and families dealing with crises including domestic violence, substance abuse, economic difficulties and more. Since its founding in 1978, Kids in Crisis has helped more than 138,000 Connecticut children and families. Kids in Crisis encourages participants to fundraise for the cause!
