Nearly 73% Have First COVID Shot, 69% Fully Vaccinated, Town Says

A good sign, he says, but First Selectman Jamie Cosgrove encouraged more people to get vaccinated: "Let's get those numbers higher."

According to data provided by the state Department of Public Health, as of Friday, nearly 73 percent of Branford residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and nearly 69 percent have been fully vaccinated, the town announced.

BRANFORD, CT — According to data provided by the state Department of Public Health, as of Friday, nearly 73 percent of Branford residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and nearly 69 percent have been fully vaccinated, the town announced.

In a news release from the town, First Selectman Jamie Cosgrove is celebrating the numbers but is nonetheless encouraging more people to get vaccinated.

"Let’s get those numbers higher," he said. "Please encourage your family, friends and neighbors to get the vaccine. Getting a vaccine is the best way to protect yourself from severe illness due to COVID-19."

Call the East Shore District Health Department at 203-481-4233 ext. 580 for an appointment. Vaccine appointments are also available at Walmart, CVS and Walgreens.

Vaccine appointments at the East Shore District Health Department do not require an ID or insurance.
