New Branford Dessert and Gourmet Crepe Eatery Off to a Great Start

If you love crepes and dessert this is the place to go.

BRANFORD, CT — Crème de la Crépe held its grand opening celebration for its new 1044 Main Street location in Branford and already its served 6,600 customers, the New Haven Register reports.

Crème de la Crépe is a new dessert and gourmet crepe eatery, owned by Sara & Robert Amato. Crème de la Crépe offers desserts and custom crepes in an elegant Paris-inspired eatery.

It features a made-to-order crepe bar, with savory selections such as The Stuffed Fig, with prosciutto, arugula, fig, goat cheese, and balsamic drizzle; The Scrambler, filled with ham, egg, gouda cheese, cheddar jack; and Turkey Brie with spinach and roasted peppers.

Sweet crepes include Icebox Cake with butter, sugar, bananas, white chocolate, milk chocolate, graham cracker crumbles and caramel drizzle; and The Fruit Tart, filled with lemon, blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries.

In an interview with the New Haven Register, Sara Amato said she always loved crepes and there weren't a lot of places in the state that made them. So one day she purchased a crepe maker and served them out of their home in New Haven and it led to opening their first restaurant in Branford.

Sara Amato told the Register that her family loves Branford and the community and she hopes to open other locations too. But for now they're focused on growing the Branford business.

Decadent dessert offerings include creme brûlée, raspberry éclairs, red velvet cheesecake, cupcakes, gluten-free options and assorted macaroons, with flavors such as key lime, honey lavender and rose water. Beverage selections include cappuccino, macchiato, espresso, teas, coconut water and juices.
