New Foote Memorial Park Playground Opens, 5th Kompan Play Park In Town

Branford's newest playground, created for kids from 2 to 5, and 5 to 9, was funded through Foote Park Trust grants totaling $135K.

BRANFORD, CT — Another town new age-designed playground has opened at Foote Memorial Park. The newest playground is created for kids from ages two to five and five to nine, according to the Branford Parks and Recreation Department.

A Kompan playground, it opened to the community Dec. 1. Bayview Park, Stony Creek opened in December 2013, and Pardee Park Playground in Short Beach, in December 2016. And with Branford Hills and Hammer Field playgrounds, this marks the fifth state-of-the-art playgrounds, provided by Kompan that have been installed in the past eight years, according to Parks & Rec.

The Foote Park Trust provided two separate grants, $60,000 in 2021, and $75,000 in 2022, for a total of $135,000 to complete the project.

In a release to Patch, Parks & Rec thanked the following:

"Thanks to the town of Branford Public Works department for removing the old equipment & preparation of the site for installation, along with the Parks & Rec. Department maintainers. Special thanks to Summer Berube and Jay Davis of Kompan, Dale Izzo, Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation, Mom Marta Kenney and daughter, Caroline, and community members who assisted in the design, color, and equipment selections."
