North Main Street Site Sells, Possible Future Home Of Car Wash

Geenty Group says the 3.3 acre site at 54-60 N. Main St., sold for $450,000. Nicholas Magnotta hopes to put in an "express" car wash.

BRANFORD, CT — As Geenty Group, Realtors, reports the sale of a 3.3 acre parcel at 54 and 60 North Main for $450,000, according to the town planning and zoning commission minutes, the new owner plans to build a car wash on the site.

Nicholas Magnotta already owns a car wash business in Hamden and according to town documents, the plan for the North Main site, he said, is an express car wash where customers pay at a kiosk, pull their vehicles in and, "the machinery does all the work. From start to finish, it’s under three minutes per car."

At a public hearing, three residents spoke on the plan, one with a concern about where the "water will go," though the plan has already been approved by Inland Wetlands and the Water Pollution Control Authority, according to meeting minutes.

Also attending the public hearing was Branford Car Wash owner Ron Manning who meeting minutes read noted that "cars will most likely back up on North Main Street" and shared his concerns about "traffic blocking the first responders at the fire house."

Kevin Geenty and Kristin Geenty were the sole brokers in this transaction. Attorney Carl Porto of Hamden was the buyer’s attorney and Michael Iacurci of Madison was the attorney for the seller.
