Obituary: ​Albert A. Doyle, 89, of Branford

He served as Deputy Mayor of the Town of North Branford, and was a member of the VFW Post 10186.

Albert A. Doyle made his final journey home on March 16, 2018. He left this world peacefully surrounded by a loving family to return to his eternal home. Mr. Doyle was born August 8, 1928 in East Haven, son of the late Christopher M. and Irene Moran Doyle. He was a Korean War combat veteran, serving on the front lines as a First Sergeant in the U. S. Army. He worked for 27 years at Pratt & Whitney in North Haven, retiring in 1987 as plant engineer.

After the Korean war, he met his lovely bride, Eleanor Good Doyle, of 58 years. They shared many great journeys and adventures together, but none more important to them then raising their 2 children. Besides his wife, Mr. Doyle is survived by his children, Alison (Steven) Schambach of Branford and Michael (Kimberly) Doyle of Warwick, RI. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Nathan, Ethan & Emma Schambach and Griffin Doyle. He was predeceased by his brother, Christopher Doyle and his sisters, Mary Renfrew, Marge Fitzgerald and Eileen White.Besides being a loving husband and devoted father, Al had many great accomplishments and associations over the years.

He was appointed to the first OSHA commission by Gov. Thomas Meskill, served as Deputy Mayor of the Town of North Branford, and was a member of the VFW Post 10186, The Branford Elks and the Branford Yacht Club.

Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford Tuesday morning, March 20th for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 11:00. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VFW Post 10186. Friends may call Monday evening from 5:00 - 8:00.
