Obituary: Alexander D Marinelli Sr., 93, of Branford

Alexander served the United States Navy (Seabees 1943 - 1945) and is a veteran from WWII, where he earned the Purple Heart.

Alexander D Marinelli Sr, known to his friends as “Big Al,” was born on March 29, 1923 and passed away on February 19, 2016.

Born to the late Margaret and Joseph Marinelli in Lawrence Mass, Alexander was brother to Lillian Nardone, Donald Marinelli and the late Joseph Marinelli.

Alexander served the United States Navy (Seabees 1943 - 1945) and is a veteran from WWII, where he earned the Purple Heart. In addition Alexander served his community as an active member of the S. B. H. H. & L. Engine 4, was a regular volunteer of the annual Short Beach Days, and participated in the Connecticut Senior Olympics.

He was predeceased by his loving daughter Lillian D’Amico, and was survived by the love and dedication of his daughter Vanessa Marinelli and son Alexander Marinelli Jr. In addition Alexander leaves the love of his grandchildren, Edward D’Amico, Thomas D’Amico, Joseph D’Amico, Aaron D’Amico and Tessa Marinelli.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday morning at 11:30 at St. Elizabeth Church, Branford. There are no calling hours and burial will be private.
