Obituary: Alexander "Scotty" Robertson, Jr., 95, of Stony Creek
He was the Chairman of the Democratic Town Committee for more than 20 years; he served as the second selectman in the Sliney administration.

Alexander "Scotty" Robertson, Jr. of Stony Creek, died Friday February 3, 2017 at the VAMC, West Haven. He was the beloved husband of Gilda Castagna Robertson. Alex was born February 7, 1921 in Barre, VT, son of the late Alexander and Anne Melvin Robertson, Sr.
He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He worked as a printer at Van Dyke Printing for many years until retiring. He was very active in the community, serving as a former captain and member of the Stony Creek Fire Rescue Co. 5. He was the Chairman of the Democratic Town Committee for more than 20 years; he served as the second selectman in the John Sliney administration in the 1960's and '70's. He also served as the Tax Collector for the town of Branford. He was a communicant of St. Therese Church.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Sharon Forte (John Schnitzke) of Branford, Mark (Carolyn) Robertson of Madison and Anita (John) Case of Branford; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his sisters, Ernestine Butler, Florence Donadio, and Isabelle Cooke, and his brothers, Melvin and William Robertson.
Alex was a true gentleman to all he came in contact with, always providing love and support to all of his family. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.Visiting hours will be Monday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford.

His funeral will leave the funeral home Tuesday morning at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Therese Church at 11:00. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Stony Creek Fire Rescue Co. 5, PO Box 3312, Branford, CT 06405.
