Obituary: Alice T. Monahan Roach, 81, of Branford

Alice was a very kind person, a loving wife, and a devoted mother who always put the needs of her family first.

Alice T. Monahan Roach, 81, of Branford, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018. She is survived by her beloved husband John T. Roach, daughters Mary Kinney and husband Layton of Deep River and Eileen Roach of Branford, a son John Roach and wife Pamela of Cheshire, three grandchildren, Colton Kinney, Natalie Roach and Sean Roach, a brother John Monahan of Hamden, a sister Mary Miller of Hamden, several nieces and nephews and her canine companion Max. She was born Feb. 1, 1937 in New Haven a daughter of the late Patrick and Alice McGovern Monahan, grew up in Fair Haven and was a graduate of the former St. Marys High School in New Haven.

She was employed for a time with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and then was a lunch aide at the Alice Peck School and lastly at the New Haven Savings Bank in the Bond Dept. until her retirement.

Alice and John lived in Hamden where they were parishioners of Blessed Sacrament Church and Alice was very active in the church as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Ladies Guild and the Columbiettes. For the past 20 years they had resided in Branford and attended St. Mary Church there. Alice was a very kind person, a loving wife, and a devoted mother who always put the needs of her family first.

Funeral from Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Wednesday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 East Main St., Branford, CT 06405.
