Obituary: Andrew P. "Poppy" Huzar, of Branford

Andrew P. "Poppy" Huzar of Branford, died Tuesday April 4, 2017 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Miriam Waiss Huzar. Andrew was born in New Haven May 13, 1938, son of the late John and Anna Lobodynski Huzar.

He served in the U. S. Army. After the army he worked for Echlin Manufacturing as a truck driver for many years. He also worked for Accuturn Products and as a courier for the Branford Board of Education. Andrew loved the outdoors, and was happiest when he was outside. He was an avid gardener, and his garden was affectionately known as Huzar Park at the condominiums where he lived.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Andrea (Paul) O'Neil of Duxbury, MA, Jennifer Frost of Grand Rapids, MI, Bernard Huzar of Long Beach, CA, and Eric Janasiak of Richmond, VA. He was "Poppy" to his grandchildren, Paul, Olivia, Andrew and Ava. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bill Donadio of Guilford.

He was predeceased by his sister Pauline Donadio.His funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, Friday morning at 10:00 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 10:30. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
