Obituary: Andrew “Zukie” Laudano 91, of Branford, formerly East Haven
He enlisted in the Navy in 1952, served in the Korean War, and was a crew member on the Battleship USS New Jersey #62.
Andrew “Zukie” Laudano 91, of Branford, formerly of East Haven passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 3, 2023.
He was the husband of Elizabeth Dell’Aquila Laudano, who predeceased him. Andrew was born in New Haven on August 23, 1932 to the late Ernest and Theresa Manita Laudano.

Growing up, he spent many years working in his grandmothers restaurant and the family laundromat- Riverside Laundry at the corner of Poplar St. and Grand Ave in New Haven. His grandmother called him “Zukiah”, the name stuck and from then on was called “Zukie” by his family. He worked for many years at Blakeslee, Arpia and Chapman. After high school, Andrew enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952 and served in the Korean War. He was a crewmember on the Battleship USS New Jersey #62.
Andrew is survived by his daughters Diane (Robert) Nerkowski of Hamden and Lisa (Thomas) Peterson of Branford, his sisters Shirley Perrelli, of East Haven, and Delores Mirto of Largo, FL.
Uncle Andy, who is known as Uncle Zukie, also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews from the Laudano, Gaudio, Perrelli, Poletta, Fallon, Dell’Aquila, McDermott, Bernardo and Mauriello families.

Andrew was predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth Dell’Aquila Laudano, his parents Ernest and Theresa Laudano, sisters Carmel Gaudio and Lena Poletta and his brother Ernest Laudano.
Andrews's family would like to invite visitors for calling hours on FRIDAY October 6, 2023 from 10am-11am at East Haven Memorial Funeral Home 425 Main St East Haven, CT. There will be a short prayer service at 10:45 at the funeral home. Burial will follow immediately at All Saints Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his wife and family.
