Obituary: ​Anna "Ank" S. Bialack, 97, of Branford

She later worked as a bookkeeper for the Gus Scalfani Corporation in Stamford, and then as a biller for the Stamford Water Company.

Anna "Ank" S. Bialack of Branford, CT died peacefully on March 16, 2017 at The Mary Wade Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Thaddeus "Ted" S. Bialack.

Anna was born in Stamford, CT on June 17, 1919, daughter of the late Joseph and Sofia Sutvay Sandor. She was a 1937 graduate of Stamford High School and a 1938 graduate of Short's Secretarial School, Stamford, CT. Anna's first job was with Petro in Stamford. She later worked as a bookkeeper for the Gus Scalfani Corporation in Stamford, and then as a biller for the Stamford Water Company until her retirement in 1987. She and her husband moved to Branford the same year.

Anna is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Raymond) Mazzarella and Dolores "Lorie" (Steven) McLaughlin; her grandchildren, Brian (Kathleen) and Kevin (Kathy) Mazzarella, Sean (Ashley) McLaughlin, Carleen (Philip) Gilbert, and Kyle McLaughlin; her grand-granddaughters Emily and Kate Mazzarella and great-grandson Benjamin Mazzarella; a brother, Rudy Sandor; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, John, Joseph and Edward Sandor, and her sister Helen Hudak; nephews Michael Hudak and Phillip Sandor, and a niece Judy Sandor.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Branford. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. There are no calling hours.

Her family would like to thank the staff at the Mary Wade Nursing Home for their loving and compassionate care of Anna over the last five and a half years.
