Obituary: Anthony Dombrowski, 94, of Branford

Anthony Dombrowski, of Rocky Hill, formerly of Branford, died Friday July 22, 2016 at the Rocky Hill, Connecticut Veterans Hospital. He was the husband of the late Theresa Toohey Dombrowski and Veronica Dombrowski.

Mr. Dombrowski was born in Branford June 12, 1922, son of the late Joseph and Antonia Fortunski Dombrowski. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army. He never overcame the trauma he witnessed from liberating the concentration camps.

The horror stayed with him the rest of his life. After the war he became a tool & die maker and owned the Branford Tool & Die Company for over 45 years until he retired.

He is survived by his children, Janice Dombrowski (Jeffrey Elliott) of Rocky Hill and Margaret Dombrowski of East Haven; his granddaughters, Alisa Elliott and Katherine Dombrowski; his sister Valerie Woronick of Cheshire and his former daughter-in-law Abigail Dombrowski of Guilford; two sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son Stephen Dombrowski and his eight brothers and sisters. Anthony was extremely devoted to his immediate family and also to his large extended family. He will be missed by all. A sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staff at the CT Veterans Hospital. Their care and devotion, their love for Tony made his last four years happy ones.

Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North main Street, Branford Wednesday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian burial in St. Elizabeth Church at 10:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 – 7 PM.
