Obituary: ​Arnold "Pete" Peterson, 88, of Branford

Arnold "Pete" Peterson, 88, passed away March 28, 2017. He was born February 5, 1929 and was a life-long resident of the Short Beach section of Branford. He was an accomplished builder and built, remodeled and designed many houses in the area including his unique octagon home facing the Farm River. He loved Short Beach Days and made many innovative parade floats for his children and grandchildren.

As a board member of the Branford Historical Society he maintained the Harrison House and grounds for many years. As a member of the Short Beach Union Church he supervised their renovation projects. He was a board member of the Branford Shoreline Greenway Trail and was instrumental in the design and construction of the Branford trails. He served on the board of the Branford Open Space Commission and was a member of the Branford Land Trust.

He was an honorary member of the Short Beach Hook & Ladder Company.He is survived by his wife of 68 years Evangeline "Eva" Joyner Peterson, his children Jane Bouley, Linda Peterson (C. Douglas Vaughn), David Peterson (Gabriel Firth) all of Short Beach; his six grandchildren Peter Bouley (Rachel Butler), Kevin Bouley (Tonia Passwater), Jeremy Smith (Allison Kent), Jaime Smith, Chelsea Peterson (Liam Nicholson), Taylor Peterson and six great-grandchildren Sawyer Bouley, Evan Bouley, Caleb Peterson, Roux Kent-Smith, Robert Bouley and Wilder Nicholson.

Besides his parents Arnold J. and Alice Taylor Peterson he was predeceased by his brother Chris Peterson, sister Leona Peterson and son-in-laws Robert Bouley and Gerald Smith.Services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in Center Cemetery.
