Obituary: Barbara Bolcer Torcellini, 88, of Branford
She was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford for 60 years.

Barbara Bolcer Torcellini, 88, of Branford, passed away peacefully in her home on June 24, 2018. She was the devoted loving wife of Joseph Torcellini for 60 years. Barbara was born in New Haven, July 18, 1929, daughter of the late Thomas and Marie Danehy Bolcer.
She was a graduate St. Mary High School and New Haven State Teacher’s College (Southern Connecticut State University), where she earned her bachelor’s degree and went on to Columbia University where she earned her master’s degree. Barbara taught reading at several grammar schools in North Haven for 35 years, then retired to Pompano Beach, FL, spending summers in Connecticut.

She was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford for 60 years. She enjoyed travel, theater and most of all her family and friends. In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her three children, Maria Rush of Bluffton, SC, Paul Torcellini and his wife Jacqui of Branford, and Amy Hattaway and her husband Carey of Bluffton; her grandchildren, Peter, Robin, Orion and Sabrina; great-grandsons, Alex, Elijah and Andre. She is also survived by her brother Thomas Bolcer and his wife Florence of Hilton Head, SC.
A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00-8:00 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 9:00 in St. Mary Church, Branford. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
