Obituary: Bernadette McCutcheon DeMusis, 95, of Branford

She loved being with family, and enjoyed swimming, reading, music and dancing, and was an avid baseball fan, especially the NY Yankees.

Bernadette McCutcheon DeMusis of Branford died Wednesday April 27, 2022 at the Hearth @ Tuxis in Madison. She was the wife of the late Ralph T. DeMusis.

Bernadette was born in Branford August 31, 1926, a daughter of the late Andrew and Lucy Wynn McCutcheon. When her children were younger, she was very active with both the Boy Scouts and the Brownies. She enjoyed swimming, reading, music and dancing. She was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play, and she especially loved the New York Yankees. She loved being with her family and always hosted all of her family’s holiday gatherings. She and Ralph traveled extensively, and they enjoyed spending their winters in Florida.

Bernadette is survived by her children, Anthony “Andy” DeMusis (Louise) of Guilford, Ralph DeMusis, Jr. of Wallingford, Michael DeMusis (Dusty) of Durham and Patricia Dunham (Lou) of Deep River; her sister Anne Anderson, and her brothers, Robert and Vincent McCutcheon all of Branford; her seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson, Christian DeMusis and her brother Denis McCutcheon.

Her funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford Tuesday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Bosco Parish at St. Mary Church, 731 Main Street, Branford at 10:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.
