Obituary: Bettye Bowden Cote, 89, of Branford

Bettye Bowden Cote, age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at home with family by her side. She was married to the late Arthur W. Cote. Born September, 1928, she was the daughter of Robert Charles and Lillian Patterson Bowden and grew up in East Haven, graduating from East Haven High School. Before she was married she worked at U.S. Steel and Wire and then later as an investor.

She enjoyed playing tennis, swimming, skiing and painting until age 89, other interests included hiking, camping, sailing and traveling. She visited almost every US state and she traveled to all 7 continents. She was predeceased by her daughter Jill C. Wallace and her four sisters, Lillian Masotta, Kathleen Salminen, Roberta Cordner and Marjorie Bloom. She is survived by her brother Robert (Buzzy) Bowden of East Haven, her son Robert A. Cote of Branford, daughters Sandra Kordiak of Orange and Susan Cote-DeMilia of Southbury, son in laws David Wallace, John Kordiak and Carl DeMilia, grandchildren Miles (Mandie), Cody and Dakota Wallace, Mike (Chelsea), Christopher and Jaclyn Kordiak, Benjamin and Alexa DeMilia, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery in Hamden. Friends may call Thursday from 5-7 P.M.
