Obituary: Carla Grigley, 73, of Branford

Carla Grigley of Branford died Thursday April 7 at Yale New Haven Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Donald Grigley. She was the mother of Allison Grigley Geballe (Josh) of Guilford, Erica Campbell (Andrew) of Branford, and Donald Grigley of Hamden. She was the sister of Eric Anderson (Vicki) of Branford and Michael Anderson of Santa Monica, California.

Sister-in-law to Joseph Duro of East Haven. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lisa Grigley (Sean Cherry), Carla M. Grigley, Donald Grigley III, Andrew Campbell Jr., Sophia Campbell, Olivia Campbell, Claudia Campbell, Will Geballe, and Kaylee Geballe. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Rocky. She was predeceased by her brother William Anderson and brother-in-law, John Duro.

Carla was born in New Haven on April 21, 1942, the daughter of Carl and Alice Thomas Anderson. She graduated from Quinnipiac University with a degree in nursing and worked as a school nurse for the Town of Branford for many years.

She also worked at Branford Hills Health Care Center and for the Branford Visiting Nurses Association. She also volunteered as a reader at Murphy School in Branford and at the Community Dining Room in Branford. She was a member of the Branford YMCA and the Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club, where she was an avid golfer and tennis player.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 at St. Mary Church in Branford. Burial will be private. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford.
