Obituary: Chae Bong Byon Viel, 58, of Branford

Born in Korea and a longtime Branford resident, she was the wife of Chip Viel. Memorial donations may be made to the Community Dining Room.

Chae Bong Byon of Branford died Friday March 18, 2022 at Connecticut Hospice. Chae Bong Byon Viel was born to Kyong Won Byon (Father) and Yu So Pun (Mother) on January 10, 1964 in Sintanjin, South Korea. She leaves her husband Charles “Chip” Viel, Jr. along with six siblings in Korea including her brother, Kwang Ung Byon, sisters Im Sun Byon, Im Cha Byon, Kim Sun Byon, Chae Sun Byon, and Chae Suk Byon. She also has a sister in San Angelo, Texas, Chae Kun Bascom (Husband Wayne). She has 14 nieces and nephews and numerous grandnieces and nephews.

The family thanks the nurses and support staff at Yale Hew Haven Hospital East Pavilion 10-6 for the care they gave Chae Bong.
