Obituary: Concetta Connie Carrillo, 97 of Branford formerly East Haven
She had a strong faith, volunteered with many organizations and in 2008 was honored with the St. Joseph Archdiocesan Medal of Appreciation.

Concetta (Connie) Carrillo passed away peacefully Friday September 1, 2023 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Connie was born in New Haven on January 29, 1926 to the late Gennaro and Carmela Cinotti Carrillo. Connie graduated from Commercial High School in 1944 and began her career with US Steel, retiring 35 years later in 1980. She then began a second career for several years as a real estate agent at Angel Realty in East Haven.
Connie loved participating in women’s sports. She played and coached both women’s softball and basketball. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trips to Italy to see her family and maintain her Italian, and to Cape Cod to spend time with her close friends. Connie adored dogs and loved to care for them and any animals in need.

Connie had a strong faith and volunteered with many organizations so that she could help others. She served as president of the St. Vincent de Paul Ladies Guild and was a member of the New Haven Vocational Prayers Serra Club, the East Haven Women’s Club, and the New Haven Council of Catholic Women. In 2008, Connie was honored with the St. Joseph Archdiocesan Medal of Appreciation.
Connie is survived by 8 nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews, and a host of loving friends. She was predeceased by her sisters Josephine Iovene, Yolanda Cosenza, and Anita Della Ventura, as well as by her beloved nephew Gerald Iovene and niece Ann Hallberg. Connie’s spirited presence, humor, and gracious soul are dearly missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to attend A Mass of Christian Burial for Connie on TUESDAY September 12, 2023, at 11:00AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church (St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish) 80 Taylor Avenue, East Haven. Burial of ashes will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Vincent de Paul Church, ARK / Branford Hills Health Center or Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
