David Raymond Jacobs Jr, longtime resident of Branford, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the West Haven VA hospital after a long illness. Born on April 8, 1949 in New Haven to the late David R Jacobs Sr and Doris (Joyce) Jacobs and predeceased by his daughter Katherine Hackley, sister-in-law Livia Jacobs, and niece Stephenie Seymore Doty.

Dave was a lifelong Yankees and Giants fan who religiously watched every game. He enjoyed traveling with his family and two of his favorite places were Strawberry Park in Preston, CT and the family camp on Piper Pond in Abbot, ME. His favorite haunts were Trafton’s and Lakeshore. While in Maine he took up golf and developed into a pretty fair golfer. Dave was an Eagle Scout and many of his favorite memories were from the years spent leading both his sons in Boy Scouts. There were pinewood derbies, camping trips to Camp Sequassen and Philmont, and the proud moment when Wesley became the family’s second Eagle Scout. He was a Marine Corp veteran and devoted to his community. Dave was passionate about policing and protecting our communities and was a Police officer in New Haven as well as an officer for Conn Rail. He was a member of the Branford Republican Town Committee and served on the Branford Zoning Board of Appeals and the Branford Police Commission. Most people will remember Dave as the man behind the camera as he documented life, and was only rarely the subject in any photo. As dedicated as he was to his community, he was even more so to his family and friends. Dave was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend who always gave more than he took.
