Obituary: Dennis E. Hartigan, 85, of Branford

Dennis E. Hartigan, of Branford, died Thursday December 8, 2016 at Whitney Manor in Hamden. He was the beloved husband of Ann Solevo Hartigan.

Mr. Hartigan was born August 28, 1931 in North Branford, son of the late John and Marion Reed Hartigan. He was proud to have served his country in the USMC in the Korean War.

Mr. Hartigan was a teacher and coach for the hearing impaired, working at Crotched Mountain School among others. He also was the owner-operator of a Good Humor Ice Cream truck in Branford for many years. He was a dedicated family man and is the proud father of Karen (Dean) DeMello of Newport, RI, Ann (Michael) Gargamelli of Branford, and Colleen Smith of Middletown, RI; and step-father of Kathleen (Stanley) Sytnik of Wrightstown, NJ and Judith (David) Perrone of Wallingford.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and his sister Sharon Bjornberg of Stowe, VT. He was predeceased by a step-son, Vincent Iovieno, his brother, John Hartigan and his sister Aileen Saars.
