Obituary: Doris J. Shelton, 91, of Branford

Doris J. Shelton of Branford passed away on Friday February 25, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of Charles Shelton Jr. of Branford. She was the mother of Christian Shelton (Sarah) of Madison and Stephen Shelton (Amy) of Guilford. She was the grandmother of Andrew, Caroline, Dana, David, Lexie, and Ariya and the great grandmother of Leona. She is also survived by her sister Emily LeMay of Madison. She was predeceased by her son Charles Shelton III and her grandson Elijah.

Doris was born in New Haven on January 20, 1931, a daughter of Frank and Emily Minson Jones.

She was a long time Branford resident. Doris was a grade school teacher until her sons arrived and then lovingly raised them through their growing years.

Funeral services and burial will be private. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements.
