Obituary: Dorothy Malkin Donohoe, 90, of Branford

An administrator in the Psychology Department of Yale University for 15 years, she and her husband owned a Branford lighting store.

Dorothy Malkin Donohoe passed away after a brief illness on October 4, 2023. She was the beloved wife for 57 years of the late Richard J. Donohoe. She was predeceased by her son Christopher, and her sister Barbara Reardon. She leaves behind a daughter-in-law Fiona, and a grandson Jake, and a brother-in-law Charles Reardon of Ridgefield, and four nephews Bradford, Charles, Mike, and Tom. She was very fond of every dog, especially her two Welsh Corgis Yank, And Doodle (deceased).

She was born in Norwalk, CT in 1933, daughter of the late A. Raymond Malkin, and Ruth VanCoevering Malkin (Kellogg), and resided in Stamford. Upon graduation from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in 1955 she was affiliated with Cunningham and Walsh Advertising, and Holt Rinehart and Winston Publishing in New York City.

Moving to Connecticut in 1971, she and her husband owned a retail lighting store in Branford. Subsequently, she served for 15 years as an administrator in the Psychology Department of Yale University, retiring in 1997. She and her husband then divided their time between Branford, and Fort Myers Florida with extensive travelling.

She was a member of the New Haveners Club, and a longtime member of the Branford Woman’s Club, and the Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club.
