Obituary: Dorothy Young, 88, of Branford

Dorothy Young of Branford died Wednesday March 30, 2022 at Artis Senior Living in Branford. She was the wife of the late Edward W. Young.

Dorothy was born in New Haven March 5, 1934 daughter of the late Clifford and Antossie Morris Swirsky. She was a lifelong resident of Branford. She volunteered for many years at Homemakers Thrift Shop in Branford. She loved spending time with her family and attending all of her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Dorothy’s family would like to thank the caring and dedicated staff at Artis Senior living, especially Jackie, Gina and Wayne.

Dorothy is survived by her children Ellen (Brian) Footit of Guilford, William (Pam) Young of NC and Robert (Cathy) Young of Branford; her grandchildren, Daniel Young, Kyle (Jessica) Young, Jessica Young, Bradley (Katherine) Young, Julia Footit, Gehrig Footit and Kate Footit, and her great-granddaughter, Scarlett Young. She was predeceased by her brother Clifford Swirsky and her sister Antoinette “Tessie” McGuire.

Funeral services and burial are private at the convenience of her family.
