Obituary: Edward "Eddie" Purdie, 80, of Branford

Edward "Eddie" Purdie, 80, died unexpectedly at his home in Branford on November 22, 2016. He was the husband of 60 years to Anna Purdie.
Eddie was born in Glasgow, Scotland December 31, 1935, son of the late Thomas and Christina Purdie. He married his best friend Anna on November 24, 1956. In 1966 Eddie moved his family to America where he retired from Bayer Laboratories after working for 26 years as a machinist. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, music, dancing, watching soccer and his favorite baseball team the NY Mets. He was also an auxiliary member of the Short Beach Fire Department for 49 years.

He was a loving husband and father who cherished his family and would have done anything for them. He will be greatly missed by all. Besides his wife, Eddie is survived by his sons, Edward of West Haven, Gavin of Santa Monica, CA, and Andrew and his partner Aaron of Las Vegas, NV.
He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service Friday morning at 11:00 in Branford Center Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Smilow Cancer Hospital, 20 York Street, New Haven, CT 06511.
