Obituary: Edward J. Cleary, 75, of Branford

Edward J. Cleary, longtime resident of Branford died November 10, 2016 at the Arden House in Hamden after a long illness.

He was the beloved husband of Susan Milner Cleary.Edward was born September 5, 1941 in New Haven, son of the late Edward T. and Ursula Kindt Cleary. He was a school psychologist for the Fairfield school system for many years before retiring.

Ed enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, skiing and taking his dog to the dog park. He enjoyed music and played the piano daily, and he was a fan of the New England Patriots.Besides his wife, he leaves his sons, Edward T. Cleary and Daniel M. Cleary, both of Branford; his brothers, Paul J. (Margaret) Cleary of Cheshire and Richard (Rita) Cleary of New Haven and his sister Gretchen (Beat) Schaffner of Aiken, SC.

Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral home, 244 North Main Street, Branford Thursday morning at 8:15 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, 5 Hillhouse Ave., New Haven, at 9:00. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 – 8 PM.
