Obituary: Edward J. Masotta, Sr., 94, of Branford

Edward J. Masotta, Sr. of Branford, died on Tuesday June 20, 2023 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband for 60 years to the late Marie Petrafesa Masotta.

Edward was born in New Haven June 23, 1928, a son of the late Vincenzo and Maria Farina Masotta. Along with his brothers, he was a co-owner of Central Cleaners in East Haven for over 65 years until retiring. He was a devoted, hardworking family man whose main priority was always his family. He became his wife’s primary caregiver for many years during her final illness.

He is survived by his sons, Edward J. Masotta, Jr. (Antonia), and Charles A. Masotta, both of Branford, and his granddaughters, Therese and Elena Masotta of Branford. He is also survived by his sister Rita Rascati of East Haven and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Adeline Panico and Lena Massari, and brothers Philip, Pasquale, Aglino and Ernest Masotta.

His funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, Friday morning at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Bosco Parish at St. Therese Church, 105 Leetes Island Road, Branford, at 11:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Visiting hour prior to the funeral from 9:30 – 10:30, at the funeral home.
