Obituary: Edward Peter Jansen, 56, of Branford

Edward Peter Jansen of Branford died unexpectedly Wednesday July 26, 2023 at Yale-New Haven Hospital surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of 26 years to Laura Scerbo Jansen.

Ed was born July 20, 1967 in New Haven, a son of Anna Gronkiewicz Jansen of East Haven and the late Hendrickus Jansen. Ed worked in the IT department at Schick in Milford. He was a Dallas Cowboy super-fan and could be heard yelling at the TV from miles away. He was an avid cyclist, especially with his brother, Henk, and friends for their bike club, “4 Guys on 2 Wheels.” Ed loved loud music—Foo Fighters and Rush were his favorites—he was THE grill master, and he also enjoyed reading. Ed was a devoted family man, always eager and willing to help anyone.

Along with Laura and his mother, Ed is survived by his children, Emily and Sean Jansen, his younger brother Henk (and his wife Michele) Jansen, his five nieces and one nephew, his brother-and-sister-in-laws, his in-laws Nancy and Bill Scerbo, and his loyal dog Harry.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours Wednesday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford and may attend a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday morning at 11:00 at St. John Bosco Parish in St. Mary Church, 731 Main Street, Branford.
