Obituary: Eileen A. Alvarez, 94, of Branford

Eileen A. Alvarez of Branford died Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Eileen was born December 22, 1926 in New York, NY, daughter of the late Daniel and Eleanor (née Ryan) Meehan.

She was an executive secretary for the Knights of Columbus for many years prior to retiring. Eileen is survived by her children, Philip Alvarez, Donald (Janet) Alvarez, Janet Santos, and Daniel Alvarez; her grandchildren, Naomi Wallnau, Isabelle Santos, Marlena Santos, Claudia Santos, Julianne Alvarez, and Brett Alvarez; her great-grandson Nico Wallnau; and her sister Eleanor Pomponio. She was predeceased by her daughter Dyan Wallnau and her sister Joyce Lawrence.

Eileen loved her faith, flowers, music, and reading—she was always interested in a new book. Her family and friends will miss her quick wit, humor, curiosity, and, above all, her big heart.
