Obituary: Elizabeth 'Betty' Caruso, 91, of Branford

Betty was very active at the Sliney building where she lived, organizing many social events.

Elizabeth "Betty" Caruso of Branford, died suddenly March 4, 2016 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was the beloved wife of 70 years to the late George "Gabe" Caruso.

Betty was born in New Haven April 28, 1924 daughter of the late Thomas and Florence Emery Raney. Betty was very active at the Sliney building where she lived, organizing many social events. She especially enjoyed her visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children, George (Joanne) Caruso of Branford, Susan Caruso of East Haven, Marilyn Caruso of VA and Anthony (Jennifer) Caruso of East Haven; her daughter-in-law Joann Caruso of FL; her sister, Carol Maniss of FL; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sons, Joseph and Michael Caruso, and her siblings, Thomas, William, and Raymond Raney, and Florence Minore, Mary DeStefano, Dorothy Griser, Helen Izzo, Ann Buzzard and Vera Correntino.

Friends are invited to a funeral service Tuesday at 12:00 noon at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and may call prior to the service from 11:00 – 12:00. Burial will follow in Branford Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association So. CT Chapter, 2911 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518, or to the American Cancer Society, 38 Richards Ave., Norwalk, CT 06854.
