Obituary: ​Ernest P. "Pat" Hourigan of Branford

After moving to Branford he became a daily communicant at Saint Mary Church.

Ernest P. "Pat" Hourigan of Branford, died Tuesday July 11, 2017 at Branford Hills Health Care Center after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Lilian Pyatok Hourigan.

Pat was born in Limerick, Ireland April 19, 1924, son of the late William C. and Mary Alice McNamara Hourigan, and was raised in Manhattan, NY. He was a Senior Master Sargent in the United States Air Force for 33 years, until retiring in 1974. During his military career, he served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

After retiring from the Air Force, Pat lived in Honolulu for 40 years until moving to Branford. After moving to Branford he became a daily communicant at Saint Mary Church. Pat was a member of the Knights of Columbus Eldorado Council 10, and was also a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the honor guard. Pat was a member of the B. M. I.

He was an avid reader and lover of music. He loved to sing, especially Irish music. Pat is survived by his children, Justine (Peter) Cimino of Branford, Eric Hourigan of Branford, and Cecilia Hourigan of New Haven; his grandsons, Christopher and Matthew Cimino; his sisters, Mary Hourigan, Alice Feit and Rita Stainback; and many nieces and nephews.
