Obituary: Frederick W. Smith, 80, of Branford

Frederick W. Smith, formerly of Branford died on Sunday February 14, 2016. He was the husband of Ann Shirley Smith of Branford.

He was the father of Anna Marie Smith of New Haven and Charlene Smith of Branford. He is also survived by his best friend Robert Gogliettino, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Edward G. Smith Sr. and Alfred E. Smith, and his brother in law Louis Cofrancesco Sr.

Fred was born in New Haven on March 13, 1935, a son of Edward and Ethel Williams Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. For many years he was a tool maker for Avco Textron. He was a member of the Delta Club and Citadel Club in New Haven, and a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:00 at St. Mary Church in Branford, with burial of his urn to follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
