Obituary: ​Gloria DePalma Palumbo, 84, of Branford

Gloria DePalma Palumbo of Branford, formerly of East Haven, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Monday December 18, 2017 at Branford Hills Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Frank P. Palumbo. Gloria was born September 5, 1933 in East Haven, daughter of the late Fiore “Joe” and Antoinette DePalma. She worked as a transporter for the Hospital of St. Raphael for many years until retiring. Gloria enjoyed traveling, bowling, dancing and music, especially Frank Sinatra.

Gloria’s greatest joys were cooking for and spending time with her family, particularly during the holidays, she especially cherished time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Rich) Prisley of North Branford, Carol (Mike) Lawyer of Tampa, FL, and Stephen (Bonnie) Palumbo of Branford; her grandchildren, Rich (Sue) Prisley, Jr., Frank Palumbo, Steve (Kelly) Palumbo, Chris Prisley (Kim Herterich), Jessica Palumbo, Nicole and Matt Lawyer; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kayla, Eli and Zackary.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Andrew and Robert DePalma and her sister Florence “Flossie” Biondi. Her family would like to extend its special thanks to Cheryl Duro and her incredible staff for the kind, compassionate care on BH3 during her time there, and a very special thank you to her personal caregiver, Margaret Mandanici.

Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Wednesday, December 27th, at 10:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent DePaul Church, East Haven, at 11:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford.
