Obituary: Gurdev Singh Canth, 68, of Branford
A printer for Simkins Industries until retiring, he was friendly and kind to his neighbors and loved world travel and good cuisine.
Gurdev Singh Canth of Branford died Wednesday August 30, 2023 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
He was born in Macau, China on September 12, 1954, a son of the late Ram Singh and Parem Kaur Canth. He grew up in Hong Kong and was an avid field hockey player. He and his brothers all played for the Nav Bharat Club in Hong Kong. He loved to travel all over the world and had a passion for good cuisine. He came to the United States over 40 years ago and moved to Branford. He worked as a printer for Simkins Industries until retiring. He was friendly and kind to his neighbors, always wanting to share both souvenirs and the story of his travels.

He is survived by his brother Arjan S. Canth of Branford, and his sisters Santokh K. Canth of New Rochelle, NY, Sarjit K. Canth of Amsterdam and Gurcharn K. Canth, and his nephews Andrew, Jassa, Ashley, Brian and Alan, and many nieces and nephews in India.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday September 6th from 9:30 – 11:00, with a service at 11:00, at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. The committal service will be held at Evergreen Crematory.
