Obituary: Irene Massey Morris of Branford
Irene was Department President of American Legion Auxiliary 1998-99; served as Unit 83 President, President of the Second District.

Irene Massey Morris of Branford died Monday November 5, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice. She was the beloved wife of the late Eliot “Hank” Morris. Irene was born in Greenboro, VT, May 12, 1921, daughter of the late Jerry and Christina Anair Massey.
Irene was a longtime resident of Branford. She worked as a bookkeeper for Hubbard, Lawless and Osborne and Associates for 37 years, until retiring in 1985. She also owned and operated Irene’s Bookkeeping Service.

Irene was Department President of American Legion Auxiliary 1998-99; served as Unit 83 President, President of the Second District. She was a 45-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary before becoming an Honorary Life Member. She served as Chapeau Departmental President from 1992-93 and was Chapeau of Salon 60.
She also served with Girls State. Irene is survived by her children, Judith I. (Richard) Green of Clinton, and James E. (Barbara) Morris of Branford; her brother, Robert (Jean) Massey of Branford, six grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Deborah Green Forbes and many brothers and sisters.

Visiting hours will be Thursday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. A funeral service will be held Friday morning at 11:00 in the funeral home, with burial to follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
