Obituary: Jerry T. Santagata, 90, of Branford

He worked for many years as a foreman for the Atlantic Wire Company in Branford. He also had his own barber shop in Stony Creek.

Jerry T. Santagata, a lifelong resident of Stony Creek died Friday September 15, 2017 at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian Santagata. Jerry was born in Stony Creek July 25, 1927, son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Santagata. Jerry was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army. He worked for many years as a foreman for the Atlantic Wire Company in Branford until retiring in 1989. He also had his own barber shop in Stony Creek for many years.

Jerry’s greatest pride was his family, and among life’s pleasures he especially enjoyed boating, gardening and he loved to travel. He is survived by his children, Jerry (Enza) Santagata of Ivoryton, Daniel (Kim) Santagata of Stony Creek and Linda (Michael) Tom of Greenwich; his grandchildren, Michael D. Tom, Courtney McGowan, Eric Santagata, Krista Vermeal, Marcie Maler, Mike Santagata, Stephanie Disco, Sonia Parisi, Michele Costello and Frank Parisi and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Marie Duro, Gloria Powers, Rose Eastman O’Donnell and Raymond Santagata.Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, Friday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Therese Church at 10:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
