Obituary: Joan F. Pontecorvo Bombardier, 74, of Branford
She was a teacher in the West Haven School System for 36 years, retiring in 2000, leaving behind her many teacher friends.

Joan F. Pontecorvo Bombardier of Branford, died peacefully Wednesday January 4, 2017 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She was the beloved wife of Leo Bombardier. Joan was born in New Haven March 1, 1942, daughter of the late Anthony J. and Sylvia Carbone Pontecorvo.
She was a teacher in the West Haven School System for 36 years, retiring in 2000, leaving behind her many teacher friends. Besides her husband, Joan is survived by her step-son, Joseph (Melissa) Bombardier of Wallingford; her grandchildren, Brittany Bombardier and Cayden Bombardier of Wallingford; her loving niece, Diane Aloi of East Haven; her two lifelong best friends, Mrs. Shaun Florio and Mrs. Valerie Shanoff of Branford and many relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Jeffrey Case.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service Saturday morning at 11:00 in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford. There are no calling hours. A Celebration of Joan's life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at a time and place to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
