Obituary: John J. "Jack" Porter, 66, of Branford

He was the President of the Woodland Hills Condominium Association and volunteered at Connecticut Hospice.

John J. "Jack" Porter, beloved husband of Roberta Bimonte "Robin" Porter of Branford, died Monday May 23, at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Mr. Porter was born in Boston, MA, September 28, 1949, son of the late Herbert and Florence McEnaney Porter. He worked as a retail and restaurant manager for many years until retiring. He was a communicant of St. Augustine Church in North Branford.

He also frequently attended Mass at St. Mary Church in Branford. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He was the President of the Woodland Hills Condominium Association and volunteered at Connecticut Hospice. However, his favorite pastime was babysitting for his granddaughter Mia, who affectionately referred to him as "Pop-Pop."

Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Christopher (Lauren) Porter of Hillsborough, NJ, Eric Porter of Natick, MA, Rachel and Stephanie Porter, both of Branford, his grandchildren, Mia Poulin of Branford, and twins Brady and Riley Porter of Hillsborough, NJ; his sister Marie Harrington of Watertown, MA, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his niece Karen Harrington.

Friends are invited to calling hours Thursday evening from 4 – 7 pm at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and may attend his Mass of Christian Burial Friday morning at 11:00 at St. Augustine Church, North Branford. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
