Obituary: ​John Nicholson, 90, of Branford

John Nicholson of Branford died on Thursday at CT Hospice in Branford. He was the husband of the late Betty Nicholson.

He was the father of John Nicholson Jr. (wife Geraldine) of Branford and the grandfather of Todd Nicholson of Branford. He was predeceased by his sister Laura Mae Nicholson Case. John was born in Washington D.C. on July 17, 1926, a son of John and Dorothy Nicholson.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and Korea. He worked for the Ford Motor Company and was later the manager of Levine Transmission. He also was an investigator for the CT Department of Motor Vehicles. John was an auto enthusiast who enjoyed working on cars and attending races. At one time he attended more than 40 consecutive Daytona 500 Races.
