John P. Lear, Jr., died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. John was born March 15, 1966 in New Haven, son of Maureen Roberti Lear and John P. Lear, Sr., both of Branford.
John was the owner and operator of both European Specialists and Tires Express in Branford. John was above all an excellent businessman, as well as a committed member of the Branford Rotary Club, and well known member of the Branford community. He was a devoted father to his children and greatly supported all their activities. He was a passionate volunteer for the Branford High School Performing Arts musicals and plays; where he was highly involved with the set construction crew for many years.

John had a contagious laugh, loved playing practical jokes, and especially enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson. Besides his parents, John is survived by his two children, Kellee and Danny Lear of Branford, his fiancé Julie Penwell of Branford, and his sisters, Deborah Lear of Branford, and Kelsey Lear of Plantsville.
Friends are invited to a visitation Friday evening from 4:00 - 8:00 at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in Trinity Episcopal Church, on the green in Branford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the BHS Performing Arts, c/o Branford High School, 185 East Main Street, Branford, CT 06405.
