Obituary: John R. Hines, 74, of Branford

He served on the RTM, Branford and was the Grand Marshal of the Branford Veteran's Day Parade.

John R. Hines, 74, of Branford passed away peacefully at home on October 23 after a 9 year battle with cancer. John is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Anne Dougan Hines. He will be missed dearly by his children Colleen Hines, Branford, Kerri (John “Jack”) Keniry, Branford and Anne (Daniel) LaTerra, Northford and his first grandchild Cecilia Anne LaTerra.

John was predeceased by his parents Charles and Anna Hall Hines and siblings Patricia Choplick, Margaret “Peggy” Mathews and Charles “Chuck” Hines. He is survived by his brother Thomas (Yvonne) Hines of Meriden, nieces, nephews and cousins. Prior to his retirement John worked for the UI Co. He was a proud Army Vietnam Veteran. John was a member of the Irish American Community Center and the Gaelic Football & Hurling Club.

He served on the RTM, Branford and was the Grand Marshal of the Branford Veteran's Day Parade. He enjoyed doing crosswords, going to hockey games and you could always spot him by his signature hat at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in New Haven.
