Obituary: Joseph Jarmie, 80, of Branford

Joseph Jarmie 80 of Branford passed away peacefully on October 6, 2016. He was born November 20, 1935 in New Haven to Joseph and Lucille (D’Abraccio) Jarmie. Joseph is survived by loving wife of over 53 years, Joan (McKiernan) Jarmie and four children, Joseph Jarmie (Cheryl) of East Haven, Mark Jarmie (Sandy) of Branford, Cheryl Franks (Harry) of Roswell, GA , Stephen Jarmie (Andrea) of Warwick, RI along with eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He is also survived by siblings, Georgeanne Celotto, Dorothy Flynn and Lilian Jarmie. He was a patron of the arts, which not only extended to his career, but also throughout the community. He was an administrator at the Yale Center for British Arts for many years, and worked for several other community-based architectural and artistic organizations.

He also taught art classes at the free, open to the public community classes at Yale University. While working at Yale University, he took many art and architectural classes to enrich himself and those around him.Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in St. Mary’s Church, 731 Main Street, Branford, CT with Committal to follow at Branford Center Cemetery. Funeral services are in the care of Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), East Haven.
