Obituary: Joseph (Joe) Gordon, 79, of Branford

A devoted family man who enjoyed swimming, bird watching and painting, he served as member/chairman of the Economic Development Commission.

Joseph (Joe) Gordon, 79 of Branford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on October 9, 2021.

Joseph was a graduate of UConn, where he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the UConn School of Engineering. He later earned a second Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of New Haven.

As a resident of Branford for over 50 years, Joe enjoyed serving the town of Branford as a member and chairman of the Economic Development Commission and member of the Clean Air Committee.

Joe enjoyed a successful career in engineering, where he headed engineering departments at companies, including IBM and Standard Motor Products. He later founded Differential Pressure Plus, Inc., where he worked with his dedicated team of employees until his retirement in 2016.

As a devoted father and husband, Joe loved spending time with family and pets, swimming in his pool, and bird watching. He was a talented artist, who enjoyed watercolor painting and drawing.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Linda; daughters, Julie (Steve Buccitti) Gordon-Buccitti of North Branford, Amy Woodman (Darren) of Granby, and grandson Noah Woodman. He is also survived by his sister, MaryLou (Robert) Breitenstein of Woodbridge; and mother-in-law, Lorraine Green. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Lauretta Gordon of Woodbridge.

A private funeral service will be held at W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice or to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter.

Joe’s family wishes to thank Annamarie Wisnesici, RN, and the doctors and nurses at Connecticut Hospice for the caring and compassionate care that he received.
