Obituary: Joseph Peter Sokolosky 'Uncle Bob,' 92, of Branford

Born in Branford, a former Madison resident, and North Madison Congregational Church ​member, he was a WWII veteran who served in Germany.

Joseph Peter Sokolosky "Uncle Bob," 92, of Branford, died on Saturday Dec. 5, 2020 at the Apple Rehab Facility in Guilford, CT. He was the husband of the late Mary Ester Morton Sokolosky.

Joseph worked for many years in industry, at the “M.I.F" for 25 years in Branford and then the Lee Company for 19 years in Westbrook.

Besides his family he enjoyed gardening, crafting furniture and at his home basement workshop and tinkering with cars with his father and younger brother and most of all crabbing and fishing along the shoreline.

Joseph was born in Branford, Oct. 21, 1928, a son of Stanley and Ellen Chapulis Sokolosky.

He was a member of the North Madison Congregational Church in Madison, where he lived for many years with his family.

Joseph served in the U.S. Army from 1949-1951 in Germany as a member of the occupation forces.

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his oldest son, James Edward Sokolosky and his seven sisters: Anele Hines, Mary Close, Helen Piscitello, Josephine Salvin, Anna Bloomquist, Rosalyn Bennett and Ruth Ceccollini, also by his brothers Stanley, Anthony, Frank and John David.

He is survived by his son Michael John Sokolosky, and five sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are private.
