Obituary: ​Joseph Torcellini, of Branford

e was a proud Scout Master of Troop #428 in Branford. During his retirement, he enjoyed working as a realtor, traveling, listening to opera.

Joseph Torcellini of Pompano Beach, FL and Branford, CT, died Sunday December 2, 2018 in Florida. He was the husband of the late Barbara Bolcer Torcellini. Joe was predeceased by his sisters Anna (Bentley) and Eleanor (Ozinsky) and brothers Henry and Charles, as well as many nieces and nephews. Joe is survived by brothers James and Paul F. Torcellini (Sue) Charles wife Connie as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Joe lost his beloved wife of 60 years, Barbara, in June of this year. Both devoted parents are survived by their children Maria Rush, Bluffton S.C., Paul Torcellini and wife Jacqueline, Branford, CT and Amy Hattaway and husband Carey of Bluffton, SC.

He is survived by his grandchildren Peter, Robin, Orion and Sabrina and great grandchildren Alex, Elijah and Andre. Joseph was born in New Haven, CT October 3, 1926 son of the late Attilio and Adria Seidari Torcellini and attended several New Haven grammar schools. He was a graduate of Boardman Trade School in New Haven. He joined the Navy in 1944 and was aboard the USS Sanders stationed in the Pacific until 1946.

Upon his return he attended the University of Connecticut and graduated in 1951. His career was spent working at Pirelli/Armstrong for 35 years, in New Haven and West Haven, CT as well as Pecus, Texas as a Coordinator of New Tire Testing. He was a proud Scout Master of Troop #428 in Branford. During his retirement he enjoyed working as a realtor, traveling, listening to opera, researching his genealogy and spending time with his devoted wife Barbara, his children, grandchildren, family and many friends.

For anyone who knew Joe he was a sweet and loving gentleman who loved life and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. May he and Mom be together again with our heavenly father.His funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, Thursday morning at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at St. John Bosco Parish, 731 Main St., Branford, at 11:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
