Obituary: Kenneth E. Johnson, 98, of Branford

A WWII Army-Air Force veteran, he was an electrician, an avid gardener and birdwatcher and loyal Red Sox and UConn women's basketball fan.

Kenneth E. Johnson of Branford died peacefully in his home on Tuesday November 23, 2021. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Millett Johnson. He was the father of Karen Downing (Kenneth) and Kenneth Johnson (Debbie), both of Branford. He was the grandfather of Kenneth Downing (Samantha) and Christopher Downing (Dallas). He was predeceased by his son Dale Johnson and his sister Elizabeth Ashman. Kenneth was born in New Haven on May 25, 1923, a son of Ernest and Anna Erickson Johnson.

He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He was an Electrician for the United Nuclear Corporation for many years. He was an avid gardener and bird watcher. He was a longtime loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and the UCONN Women’s Basketball Team.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at Tabor Cemetery in Branford. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements.
