Kenneth L. Yeakel of Guilford, CT passed away on August 26th at the age of 89. He was born on June 21, 1927, in Bath, Pa., 9th in a family of 12 children of Robbie and Estella Yeakel.
He is survived by his wife, Diana, step children Jim and Krista Wallhagen, brothers Elmer, Richard, Franklin and Samuel, all of PA, and sister, Gloria Meixell of Maine. He also leaves daughter-in-law, Sharon Yeakel, 4 grandchildren, Kristen, Marcy, Kimberly and Brian and 6 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth V. Yeakel and first wife, Rosalie. Ken was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific and earning 2 Purple Hearts in battle on Okinawa. He served as Commandant of the CT. chapter of the Marine Corps League from 1956 - 57, and was a lifetime member. He also was the founder and owner of Cove Burner Service and East Shore Pools of Branford.
A favorite pastime was flying remote controlled model planes, he also enjoyed boating and travel. He took pride in his work and preferred keeping busy at it.

He will be missed by all.A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 10th, at 10:00 am., at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford. If you wish to make a donation to a charity in his memory, CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford, CT 06405 was a favorite. .
